70 m or 140 m — your call

Bungee jumping near San Gil

Two options, both close to town. A 70-metre tower stands over the Río Fonce; a 140-metre basket hangs over a canyon at Peñón Guane. Pick your height, step to the edge and let gravity do the rest.

Bungee jumping near San Gil

The 70 m jump, as described by the reseller Parapente Chicamocha, is a tower over the Río Fonce that you ride up by lift. From the top the river runs off towards town. Options there include the classic ankle harness dive, a body-harness run-and-jump for people with previous jumps, and tandem jumps with a combined weight limit.

The bigger one sits at Parque Peñón Guane, on the road to Barichara: a cable-car-style basket in the middle of a canyon, 140 metres up, with roughly 85 metres of free fall according to the same reseller. Solo jumps only, ankles tied, and the advice is simple: dive forward hard. The operator of each site isn't named in what we found, so ask who runs the jump you book.
