Canyon lookouts and a 6.3 km cable car
Panachi is the easy way to take in the Chicamocha Canyon: lookouts, a Guane museum and a cable car that crosses the canyon to Mesa de los Santos. It sits right on the road to Bucaramanga, so it slots neatly into a canyon day.
Parque Nacional del Chicamocha — Panachi to everyone — is a theme park and protected area in Aratoca, 39 km from San Gil. Despite the name, it isn't part of Colombia's national natural parks system. The star is the cable car: 6.3 km across the canyon to Mesa de los Santos, with the Río Chicamocha far below.
Around it you get lookouts, a monument to Santander culture, the Museo Guane, an aquapark and extra attractions such as a zip line and buggies, each with its own ticket. The paragliding launch at Dos Ventanas is about 5 km away, and Parapente Chicamocha has an office at the park — handy if you want to fly in the morning and ride the cable car after.
No prices here on purpose: they depend on the operator, the date and the group. Ask us and we’ll confirm current terms.
Not usually: reported hours close it on Monday and Tuesday outside holiday seasons. Check before you go.
